When once-successful novelist Michael Morrison falls out of love with words he falls out of love with life, spending his days walking the downtrodden streets of a northern city that mirror his own demise. He rediscovers his vigour when he meets mature student Marianna, but her death following a lavish party in Italy leaves the writer once more alone with his demons. Leaving England to uncover the tragic reality behind her seemingly privileged life on the Amalfi coast, he knows that what he finds will either make or break him. New friends and enemies, a family's dark secrets to uncover... and a life that might, just might, mean Morrison has found what he didn't even know he was looking for. The Choreography of Ghosts explores the jeopardy involved in striving for the perfect existence and the power the mind has over the direction a life can take. It's also about the sights, sounds and fragrances of Italy, and was born from the idea that just because you're on holiday and sitting by the pool the book you are reading doesn't have to be without substance.

Autorenporträt
As a journalist for more than thirty years, people could be forgiven for assuming I have written plenty of fiction. I haven't. Well, not until now.Aside from a short story - featured on my website if anyone's interested - published in a collection while I was working on the Craven Herald & Pioneer in Skipton in the early 1990s, it's been news, previews, reviews and features for papers, magazines and websites. From Yorkshire to Devon (health reporter on the Express & Echo and music writer for various magazines) to Greater Manchester (features editor and assistant editor on the Bolton Evening News) and back to God's Own (well, South Yorkshire where I live with my partner Ness and, until recently, our cats Belle and Sebastian) to edit the Rotherham Advertiser, the fiction stayed inside my head. Then inspiration struck on a holiday just outside Sorrento. It was far from being a complete idea and the true lightbulb moment came when I stumbled upon a dilapidated mansion on a Greek island. As you will find out (and may have already done so), The Choreography of Ghosts is essentially a novel about loss, searching, finding and losing again - a life that, wherever it takes him, is never enough for sometimes successful novelist Michael Morrison. It could, if you want, also be about class, envy and how people's backgrounds shape their lives. It's not about me, but safe to say I know how Mr Morrison feels. If he wasn't originally based on me, I have spent so long with him I now feel I may be based on him.* For regular news, updates, free writing and more, check out my website at https: //www.andrew-mosley.co.uk/ or contact me via Facebook, email, Twitter or Instagram.
