Charlotte Mary Yonge was an English author who lived from 1823 to 1901 and wrote for the church. The many books she wrote helped the Oxford Movement grow, and they showed how much she cared about public health and cleanliness. Kate Mary Yonge was born on August 11, 1823, in Otterbourne, Hampshire, England. Her parents were William Yonge and Fanny Yonge, née Bargus. She went to school with her father at home and learned Latin, Greek, French, Euclid, and math. Her father could be very strict with her. He expected a level of hard work and correctness that I had never seen before. It was so loud that no one could stand to hear it, and it often made me cry, but his approval was so sweet that it was a great motivator. Even though people often say nice things about how dirty I am, I think it would have broken our hearts to stop working together. We kept going until I was a few years past twenty. Yonge loved her father deeply and for a long time. Her relationship with him seems to have set the bar for all other relationships, even marriage.
