Indian national father Mr. Gandhi said that the world's resources were enough to serve everybody's need but not to anybody's greed, and the Indian Premier Mrs. Gandhi persuaded Bangladesh's Premier Mr. Rahman to endorse that the Ganges water was not enough for both India and Bangladesh although the Ganges founded and nourished the riparian flora and fauna from the high Himalayan Mountains to the Bay of Bengal for eons. Being a research-alert native of the hardest-hit downstream Ganges basin due to the upstream Indian water piracy from the Ganges, I felt a strong urge to explore how India was exploiting her Ganges water. Since tributaries are the principal water sources for the main river, this volume explores projects on the Ganges and its tributaries the Bhagirathi, the Alakanda, the Dhauliganga, the Pindar, the Mandakini, the Sarda, the Saryu, the Rapti, the Goriganga, etc. Multiple dams and barrages have been built as well as are proposed for building on the Ganges, and its primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary, quinary, and senary tributaries. Like the slogan of not leaving an inch of land uncultivated in an overpopulated country, India not not leave any stream undammed.
