The information society is no longer the same; now most major Brazilian newspapers are not concerned only with printing their news on paper. The technological revolution gained momentum in the country in the mid-1990s and has affected newspapers, which, in order to stay alive, must begin a process of media convergence. This monograph presents a comparative and content analysis of special reports published on the Pioneiro newspaper's website and also in its printed pages over the course of a week, with the aim of discovering whether or not there are significant differences between the content available in print and on the Internet. The main finding was that Pioneiro - and perhaps its readers - are not yet ready for the inclusion of audio, video and infographics in its virtual space. Hypertext and interactivity, basic features of the web, do not work on pioneiro.com, proving that reality does not seem to be as multimedia-oriented as books often suggest.
