This paper examines the position of the European Union, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Czech Republic on nuclear power following the disaster in Fukushima. The main objective of this paper is to describe and compare the reactions of the two countries to the situation that arose. This is done with regard to the countries' historically conditioned positions on nuclear power prior to the accident and, in particular, the political and social influence after the accident.
