In an ancient orchard, a fallen woman rises to claim her destiny In the shadows of Edwardian society, talented botanical artist Jane Saville faces an impossible choice when her ruthless mother exiles her to the English countryside to protect another's reputation. Forced to live in poverty and secrecy to shield her family from scandal, Jane's world seems destined for darkness until she meets Guy Attwood. Heir to an industrial fortune, Guy defies his family's ambitions, choosing instead to pursue his passion: hunting England's rarest apples for the Royal Kew Gardens. His quest to find an endangered species worthy of naming for the soon-to-be King George V leads him to a hidden orchard--and to Jane. As their worlds intertwine beneath the ancient spires of Salisbury Cathedral, Jane dares to dream of a different future. But in a society ruled by duty and appearances, their blossoming friendship awakens dangerous jealousies. When treachery and misunderstanding threaten to tear them apart, it will take the innocent wisdom of a child to show Jane that her greatest strength lies not in conforming to society's rules, but in daring to defy them. An instant bestseller, The Fallen Woman is a heart-wrenching story of love, courage and defiance that will have fans of Rhys Bowen and Lucinda Riley absolutely mesmerised.
Autorenporträt
Fiona McIntosh is one of Australia's favourite storytellers. She began her career in speculative-fiction and after worldwide success with 16 novels, moved into lush, historical fiction where she regularly hits the National Top 10 with each new blockbuster released into the most congested and competitive sales season of Christmas. She also writes crime and her Det. Jack Hawksworth series 'Hawk' has been optioned for TV while three of her historical novels have been optioned for film. Her children's picture book will be published in 2025, entitled Harry and Gran Bake a Cake. She hosts one of the country's most successful masterclasses that is highly regarded by the publishing industry, with an enviable strike rate, responsible for some of the newest popular authors in Australia. Her Masterclass debuted in the UK during the northern summer with a dozen writers from ANZ, UK and Europe. Married with adult twin sons, she divides her time between the UK and a farmhouse on the rim of the Clare Valley vineyards of South Australia where she follows her passion for baking, fine coffee (one day she'll roast her own beans) and for acquiring winter boots in the sunniest pace on earth. She's a self-confessed chocaholic.
