Single Parents Get Their Own Book. At Last. Straightforward and authentic, The Field Guide for Single Parents won't waste your time with run-of-the-mill advice. You need single parent-tested strategies-and here they are. The authors' professional backgrounds create a truly helpful experience for the reader. This comprehensive resource provides the antidote to parenting books that are tone deaf to the 25 percent of families headed by an unpartnered parent. Grounded in facts, this book remedies the problem of self-help pablum. Voiced by single parents for single parents.Part 1 focuses on keeping yourself healthy and (relatively) sane. Part 2 addresses the single parent's biggest challenge: time. Part 3 is all about money. Part 4 is about your relationships: kids, family and friends, potential romantic partners, and, ultimately, yourself. The Field Guide for Single Parents stands alone as a fact-based book written with the voices of single parents. Destined to stay on the bedside table for easy access, this reference guide is for the first three critical decades of your children's lives.
Autorenporträt
Patricia Hankin independently raised her child to adulthood and regularly contributed to an online single-parent forum with 470,000 members. After repeatedly answering the same questions, she started keeping a file of resources in response to many of those questions. It was one post that put her into action to codify that information: "What books can I read to find out about single parenting?" A light bulb went off and Pat wrote THE book-a resource guide to help deal with the most common questions and offering advice tailored to the 19 million single parents in this country. Her long business career allows her to speak with authority on personal finance, time management, risk management, and building personal teams to support oneself. Her daughter, now a laboratory science specialist, chimes in from her experience. They live in the Boston area.
