What if I told you aliens and dragons are real? I was named Marco after the famous explorer, Marco Polo. But I was one of those kids who liked the quiet life, such as fishing and wood carving; I never wanted to be adventurous. Now, here I am, eleven years old and living as a pet to aliens on the planet Oonala. You know, I never asked to be a pet. But then again, I guess most dogs and cats on Earth didn't ask to be pets either. I still remember my very first day at the underwater marketplace, when an alien started yelling, 'No pets allowed,' and grabbed me, trying to drag me out of there. Wow, I didn't know what I was in for on this planet. Most of Oonala is underwater, with giant domes covering the marketplace and homes. And guess what? There's a humongous, blue sea dragon that swims near me! The Mari aliens are afraid of him, but I think he's awesome. They call him Shamo Loonolo, which means 'The Ancient One.' I wonder how old he really is. I think the dragon and I have a connection because we are each the only ones of our species on this planet. So, this is my life now: a new planet, aliens, and a sea dragon. Isn't it funny how life can turn out so differently from what you expected? I bet Marco Polo didn't have adventures like this.
