In 1127, Emperor Louis IV unwittingly unleashes a powerful Genie from the depths of an ancient curse. Trapped within a fire opal by a royal sorcerer, the Genie's wrath remains contained for centuries. But in modern-day Paris, a wealthy collector named Raymond Blanchet acquires the gemstone-and when it is broken during an accident, the Genie is set free. As the Genie begins to manipulate those around him, granting twisted wishes in exchange for souls, Blanchet becomes obsessed with the dark power he now controls. Paranormal investigator Isabelle Fontaine, drawn to the strange occurrences surrounding the opal, teams up with an expert in ancient sorcery, Professor Henri Duval. Together, they uncover the terrifying history of the artifact and race to stop the Genie before he can make his third and final wish-an act that will open the gates for more Genies to enter the world. With each wish granted, the Genie grows stronger, and soon Isabelle and Duval find themselves battling against both illusion and temptation as they attempt to stop the creature's reign of terror. But there's a cost to trapping the Genie once more-one that will require a great personal sacrifice. In a story filled with magic, danger, and tragedy, The Fire Opal explores the limits of human desire and the consequences of meddling with dark forces that should have remained forgotten.
