Joanna Richey was born in England and has lived among the forests and waters of the Pacific Northwest for many years. As a successful water resources engineer, she has extensive knowledge of nearshore marine and riverine systems. She wrote this book with help from her grandson Ian Richey, who loves orca whales and the Salish Sea.
