Kirk Munroe (1850-1930) was an American writer and conservationist. He was born in a log cab near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, and spent most of his youth on the frontier. In 1876 he was hired as a reporter for the New York Sun, soon after which he became the first editor of Harper's Young People magazine.
