C.W. Hurni established Puppets and Motion in 2004 for the express purpose of creating original and adapted plays and performance art to give voice to social issues, the human condition with imaginative storytelling. As a published sculptor ("Artful Jesters" by Nicholas Roukes, and Nouvel Objet V.") Claire was always interested in movement, kinetics, and whimsical artwork. She enrolled at California State University Sacramento to study with prominent National Puppet master Prof. Richard Bay. At CSUS she designed the set and costumes for "Honk" the musical, under the guiding influence of costumer Nina Pinckard for the University Playwrights Theater. The artist is credited with writing, constructing costumes, sets, puppets and masks for her many community theater productions which emphasizes ethnic and cultural diversity. 2018 Claire has self-published a collection of her writing in her book entitled "Write On, and "When Granny was Young. Her most recent "The Pilgrimage to The Magic Mountain is a whimsical, rhyming adventure filled collection of adventure filled with animals, fables, and playful illustrations, plus interactive pages where kids can draw, and create their own stories.
