Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (Saint Paul, EE.UU, 1896?-?Hollywood, 1940) fue una de las figuras más representativas del llamado "sueño americano" y el mejor retratista de la conocida como "era del jazz", la década de los años veinte en su país. Su familia era de origen irlandés y después de estudiar en la Universidad de Princeton se alistó en el ejército para luchar en la I Guerra mundial. El éxito de su primer libro, A este lado del paraíso, le permitió publicar cuentos en prestigiosas revistas como The Saturday Evening Post y se convirtió en una figura muy popular.
