He was her only hope-yet the most dangerous man she could trust. When Lady Caroline Talcott's carriage is ambushed on a lonely road, she barely escapes with her life-and a packet of government documents that must reach London at all costs. Injured, alone, and desperate, she has no choice but to enlist the help of a stranger: the notorious Earl of Davenport, a man whose scandalous reputation makes him the last person she should trust. Once one of England's most dashing soldiers, Davenport has fallen on hard times. Yet when the fiercely determined lady offers him employment as her escort, he cannot resist her courage-or her beauty. What begins as a simple bargain soon turns perilous, as shadowy enemies close in and the line between duty and desire begins to blur. Pursued across England, Caroline and Davenport must rely on wit, will, and each other. But every mile draws them closer to danger-and to a passion neither expected, nor can afford to deny. In a game of spies and secrets, love may be the most treacherous risk of all.
I started creating books at the age of five, or so my mother tells me. And she has the proof-a neatly penciled story, the pages lavishly illustrated with full color crayon drawings of horses and bound with staples-to back up her claim. I have since moved on from Westerns to writing about Regency England (clearly I have a thing for Men In Boots!) a time and place that has captured my imagination ever since I opened the covers of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."I have a BA and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University, where I studied book design (As you see, I've always had a left brain-right brain love affair with art and the printed word.) These days, when I'm not tethered to my keyboard I enjoy traveling to interesting destinations around the world-however, my favorite spot is London, where the esoteric museums, funky antique markets and used book stores offer a wealth of inspiration for my stories.(p.s. I also write traditional Regency romances, which keep the bedroom door closed, under the pen name Andrea Pickens)
