How does democracy behave in a society that is changing ever faster? To what extent can the time-intensive deliberative decision-making process still contribute to shaping politics in a society of speed records? The sociologist of time, Hartmut Rosa, argues that the speed of society has reached a 'critical point' for democracy and that there is now talk of post-democracy. Therefore, in this Master's thesis, I use Rosa's theory on social acceleration and literature research to work out what influence social acceleration has on the modern democratic state.
