Constant reminders of her failed relationship force Zoe to make a drastic decision. She quit her job, rented out her apartment, moved to the country, and swore off men for good. Now living miles from the nearest town on her grandparent's farm in a rundown old house, Zoe is facing her first winter there alone. As one set back after another has Zoe questioning her decision to move to the country, her brother Ben has organised for his best friend to go and help with the renovations. There's only one problem, he hasn't told Zoe. Jake is forced out of the army after he's injured saving his best friends life. The army is the only family he has, so when Ben suggests he go and stay in the house he inherited from his grandparents and start on the renovations, he jumps at the idea. The thought of spending a few months living alone in the quiet peaceful countryside sounds good to Jake. Even though his injuries are fully healed he can no longer do the job he's been trained for, so keeping busy with rebuilding the farm sounds like a good challenge, and a way to keep him from missing his army family. The only problem is, Ben didn't tell Jake his sister was living at the farm. Can they work together to rebuild the farmhouse, or more accurately, can they work together period? Will they let themselves be open to the possibility of finding true love, or will their fear of a broken heart get in the way of what could be?
Autorenporträt
Vicki was born in Orange, NSW. When she was two years old her family moved to Dapto, a southern suburb of Wollongong. She was kicked out of pre-school at the age of four (for reasons that she will keep to herself). When she was sixteen she moved with her parents and two sisters (Vicki is the typically misunderstood middle child) to the ACT where, ironically she studied Child Care so she could work in a pre-school. Now, at the age of 45 she still lives in Canberra with her husband and three adult/teenage children. Vicki works full time (not in the child care industry!) and is an avid baker. She spends her time taxiing her kids around and baking cup cakes for all the kids who constantly fill the house. Vicki has always enjoyed writing and is now taking the time to put her stories to print. You can contact Vicki via email at vickiconnellanauthor@gmail.com with any questions or feedback on her book.
