Maxwell Pearl received his B.A. in Natural Science and Mathematics from Bennington College and his Ph.D. in Biology from Case Western Reserve University. Max taught at Hampshire College from 1989 through 1999. Max was a nationally recognized leader in the nonprofit technology field. Max worked with organizations focused on women's rights, human rights, the environment, and internet freedom.Max is a long-time practitioner of contemplative spirituality, and has a Certificate of Theological Studies from Pacific School of Religion, in Berkeley. Max is a multi-genre writer and has written many articles and reports for scholarly journals and educational and nonprofit audiences. Max has also published poetry and creative nonfiction. Max's big writing love is science fiction. He has been an avid reader and fan of science fiction and fantasy since he first read "A Wrinkle in Time" as a child. He has been writing science fiction since 2006. Because Max is a polymath, his interests span a wide range of topics, including science, technology, religion and spirituality, philosophy, history, culture, politics, race, gender, and sexuality, and he brings this to his stories. He specializes in stories of culture clash and/or first contact, and his work has numerous strong female protagonists and characters and many diverse characters.Max lives in Sonoma County with his partner and their three wonderful critters.
