AUTHOR LIVES IN INDIANAPOLIS. Larry Lawrence is a distinguished motorcycle journalist, historian, and author whose career has left an indelible mark on motorcycle racing. Beginning his journey in the 1980s, Lawrence cut his teeth covering races for Cycle News and American Roadracing, quickly establishing himself as a knowledgeable and passionate voice in the sport. His career reached new heights in the mid-1990s when he became the communications manager for AMA Pro Racing, a role he held until the late 2000s. During this time, Lawrence played a pivotal role in elevating the profile of motorcycle racing through strategic press outreach, earning him the prestigious MVP Award from the AMA for his contributions to the sport. For 15 years, Lawrence wrote a popular column for Cycle News, where he explored the rich history of motorcycle racing, uncovering the stories of legendary riders, iconic motorcycles, and unforgettable races. His deep research and engaging storytelling earned him widespread acclaim, culminating in his 2020 induction into the Hot Shoe Hall of Fame. Lawrence's expertise extends to authorship, having served as a contributing editor to Motocross America and penned a book on AMA Superbike, World Superbike Champion, and MotoGP winner Ben Spies titled Ben Spies: Taking It to the Next Level.
