The research verifies whether the indexing terms assigned to articles published in scientific journals in the field of public health are contained in the titles of these same articles. It aims to analyze the article indexing process with possible automatic indexing, considering the terms contained in the article titles. The assumptions of the research are: titles can identify the content of a scientific work; the process of indexing articles in a scientific journal does not always represent the retrieval of information; and the keywords created, however, can go beyond the titles, enabling a detailed semantic environment, given the multiplicity of points of view, with sometimes subjective influences on the indexing process. The theoretical basis focused on the following topics published in national and international literature: scientific production, documentary language, scientific communication, scientific journals, transmission of scientific information, subject analysis, indexing, bibliometrics, and bibliometric indicators.
