Lutz Pfannenstiel is a former professional footballer and current sporting director of MLS team St Louis City. He was born on March 12, 1973, in Kaiserslautern, West Germany. Pfannenstiel was known for his career as a goalkeeper, although he played for numerous clubs across different continents. Pfannenstiel's professional career spanned over 20 years and took him to various countries. He played for clubs such as Nottingham Forest (England), Dunfermline Athletic (Scotland), Geylang United (Singapore), and TSV 1860 Munich (Germany), among others. However, he gained particular recognition for his adventures in lesser-known footballing nations. Pfannenstiel became widely known for being the only professional footballer to have played on all six FIFA continental zones. He played in England, Malaysia, Finland, Namibia, New Zealand, Brasil and Canada, representing clubs in each of these countries. After retiring as a player, Pfannenstiel transitioned into a career in football management and administration. He held positions such as sporting director, goalkeeper coach, and CEO at various clubs and organizations. Notably, he served as the director of international relations at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, a German Bundesliga club. Pfannenstiel's unique experiences and his passion for football have made him a well-respected figure in the sport. He has often been described as a globetrotter of football due to his remarkable career path and his contributions to the game in different parts of the world.
