Manuela DaCosta was born in Terceira, Azores, and immigrated to the United States as a young adult. She is the author of Oh My Beloved, Longings are Purple Black, Hawk Island, Os Sonhos de Dona Dores, and Dark and Soulful Eyes. Manuela graduated from the University of Massachusetts and lives in New England.
