Produktbeschreibung
This work explores whether the Last Judgement, as it existed in the medieval imagination, also exists in the modern science fiction world of Star Trek. In order to compare this theme in both worlds, it was first necessary to examine religious German-language poetry of the Middle Ages. This was done using two poems from the 11th and 12th centuries as examples. With the help of these works, individual motifs were identified. In order to further substantiate these motifs, this work also deals with the visual arts of the Middle Ages, but this is only done by way of example, using the miniature cycle of the 'Bamberg Apocalypse'. Episodes from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' are used for comparison. This Star Trek series was deliberately chosen because Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, was still involved in it but no longer felt social pressure not to address certain topics.
