The historical battles of Eylau and Friedland are covered in detail, as is the Peace Conference at Tilsit. Napoleon's continuing love affair with the beautiful young Polish Countess Marie Walewska is explored. After Tilsit, Marek is drawn into an elaborate subterfuge and is forced to attempt to rescue his mother, Magdalena, from the clutches of an old foe, imperiling Napoleon's newly established peace.

His novels fuse together his love of history, his extensive travels and and a knack for dramatic storytelling to create intriguing tales set in accurate settings relative to each work's genre and time period. Many of his works portray realistic Polish characters and/or are set in crucial periods of Polish history.
