The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944), was published in April 1943 in both English and French and quickly achieved worldwide fame. Today it is a cult book, considered one of the five must-reads for everyone. Saint-Exupéry, winner of major literary prizes in France and a military pilot at the beginning of World War II, wrote and illustrated the manuscript while in exile in the United States. The Little Prince is a poetic tale accompanied by watercolour illustrations by Saint-Exupéry himself. It is the story of a pilot who gets lost in the Sahara desert after his plane crashes. There he meets a little prince from another planet, who tells him about his adventures and becomes his friend.
