In The Lord of the Highlands, the Shadow Lord strengthens his hold over the weakened Kingdoms as his dark creatures rise and the High King continues to do his bidding. Yet, a boy rekindles a flame of hope in the Highlands. Thomas Kestrel may take his rightful place as Lord of the Highlands, but in doing so he seals his grim fate. Is Thomas willing to fight to restore balance to the Kingdoms, no matter the cost? Will his people even follow? The Lord of the Highlands is the fifth book of The Sylvan Chronicles, a nine-book sword and sorcery, coming of age, Arthurian fantasy series.

Best-selling author Peter Wacht began to write the epic fantasy stories he loved to read when he exhausted what was available in the bookstores that he used to haunt. He always includes adventure, humor, a few twists, a bunch of fights (magic and steel), and a little romance, along with a few good monsters. But for him a good fantasy always comes down to engaging characters. With that in mind, he likes to focus on the reluctant hero, a man or woman not seeking glory, but rather seeking to help others and challenge the evil plaguing the world he's created, The Realms of the Talent and the Curse. Having completed The Sylvan Chronicles, The Tales of Caledonia, The Tales of the Territories series, and his first urban fantasy series, The Fallen Knight, he is working on the Legend of the Dragon Lord.
