Charles John Cutcliffe Wright Hyne (1866-1944)
C. J. Cutcliffe Hyne was also known as Weatherby Chesney. He wrote for both print and film and was one of the most prolific and successful writers of early magazine sf. He is best known for The Lost Continent: The Story of Atlantis as well as his Captain Kettle series. The Captain Kettle stories directly influenced Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. He died, aged 88.
