I was born and brought up in Berkshire. Following a teenage spell in the depths of Lancashire, I moved to London where I've lived since. In my writing, I explore social history, complicated relationships, and how the extraordinary happens every day. As well as writing novels, I'm a playwright and have worked with theatres across London. I share my home with my long-term partner, an ever-growing collection of antique curiosities, and more books than any person really needs.
