Aly Valdez nació en Punta Brava, un pequeño pueblo a las afueras de La Habana, Cuba. Hija de un expreso político, desde muy joven creció escuchando historias de resistencia y lucha por la libertad, lo que forjó en ella un fuerte compromiso con la justicia social. En 1994, en medio de la grave crisis económica y política que azotaba a la isla, emigró a los Estados Unidos como parte del éxodo masivo conocido como la "Crisis de los Balseros". Viajó en una precaria balsa improvisada con dos cámaras de camión, envuelta en sacos de yute y con apenas dos remos para impulsarse, en un trayecto peligroso que la llevó finalmente a la base naval de Guantánamo. Ya en Estados Unidos, Valdez transformó esa experiencia de riesgo y esperanza en una vocación por el servicio y la defensa de los más vulnerables. Ha sido una firme defensora de los derechos de las mujeres, alzando su voz en favor de la equidad de género y la protección de las víctimas de violencia doméstica. Además, ha abogado consistentemente por políticas y leyes que amparen al inmigrante que llega al país en busca de oportunidades y libertad, ofreciendo apoyo y orientación a quienes enfrentan barreras culturales, lingüísticas y legales en su nuevo hogar. Su trayectoria académica también refleja su pasión por el bienestar humano. Valdez se graduó de la Universidad Internacional de Florida (FIU) con un título en Psicología, formación que le ha permitido trabajar de cerca con comunidades necesitadas y comprender más profundamente las raíces emocionales y sociales de la violencia y la desigualdad. Hoy es reconocida por su liderazgo comunitario, su empatía y su dedicación incansable para construir un futuro más justo y compasivo para todos.
