Francis Lynde was an American writer born on November 12, 1856, in Lewiston, New York. He is known for his adventure novels set in the American West, which were popular in the early 20th century. His works often captured the ruggedness of frontier life and the spirit of adventure that defined the period. Lynde's novels not only entertained but also provided a detailed portrayal of the challenges faced by individuals in the American West. Three of his books were adapted into films, demonstrating the lasting impact of his writing. His stories typically revolved around themes of survival, determination, and the complexity of human relationships in harsh environments. Lynde passed away in 1930 at the age of 74 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His literary legacy is preserved through a collection of his papers housed at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library.
