Dr. Carolyn Wade Sion is a native Houstonian. She is the second child of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. John H. Wade, Sr. (both parents deceased). Carolyn attended Kashmere High School in Houston and graduated in 1968. She holds a bachelor's from Texas Southern University, graduate studies in education, a master's degree in Christian counseling and a PhD in philosophy and ministry from Ramah Institute of Theology. She is the founder and pastor of the Praise Deliverance Church. She is the mother of two, John W. Boyd, III and Chaunita J. Boyd. The author is the grandparent of Charity and Christian Boyd; and JaQuai Davis. She is active in church and community work throughout Houston. Carolyn Sion has always enjoyed writing and has done so since elementary school. During her first marriage, she penned many poems and books while married to a local minister. Later, she remarried and enjoyed the beauty of a storybook romance while with Lee Sion, who passed away after a brief but blissful marriage. Many of the poems in her book, Where Spoken Words Become Real, are inspired by the wonderful relationship she and Lee enjoyed together. One poem in this collection, "Soul Mate," is inspired by the fun the two of them shared. After the oil crunch in the 1980s, Carolyn taught school as a speech therapist and teacher. She worked with children with special needs and experienced the miraculous in some instances where some children who had very poor speech or were mute later spoke.
