CLEMENT CLARK MOORE (1779-1863), was a Professor of Oriental and Greek Literature at the Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York City. Moore gained considerable wealth by developing parts of New York that became known as the residential neighborhood of Chelsea.
