In conducting this research, I found that colostomy patients need psychosocial support, promotion, health education, rehabilitation, and guidance for self-care. Therefore, Orem's Theory is adapted to colostomy patients who need self-care, helping nurses to perform systematic and interrelated actions that guide therapeutic self-care. Orem's Nursing Process clearly determines the roles of nurses and clients in meeting self-care requirements, and the Methods of Help proposed by Orem help nurses to justify 'why is it necessary?' when clients are unable to meet their biological and psychological needs. It is understood that nurses should not only prioritise curative and care practices, but also seek to engage in educational and research activities to better identify the problems arising from colostomy, valuing colostomy patients as human beings. Orem's concept of self-care exalts nursing practice and nurses as professionals who are scientifically, technically, and humanely qualified to provide care to colostomy patients.
