Dall Wilson was introduced to The Passion-Hymns by Icelandic pastor Kolbeinn, an expert on Hallgrimur and on the Czech diaspora of the 1700s. A Czech from Fulneck, Moravia, was buried in Wilson's old cemetery just after the American Revolution. Mattias had spent decades in Greenland. Discovering this history introduced Wilson to Kolbeinn who delivered a copy of the original music used by Hallgrimur featuring Czech hymns. After hearing this sung by a Faroe Island choir, played in Old St. Patrick's Cathedral NYC, and sung in a Moravian singstunde, or singing-service, Dall developed the Passion-Hymns in English with the magnificent hymn-tunes and poetry of Hallgrimur's masterpiece.
