K.A. Ellison was born in Manly, N.S.W, Australia. Her lifelong passion for the outdoors and animals permeates her artistic endeavors. With an MCA in Contemporary Art and a rich exhibition history, her paintings have been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. Her mediums are mostly painting, sculpture, and digital art. Complementing her visual art, Ellison holds a B.A. with majors in Literature, History, and Geography, fueling her multifaceted creative journey.This journey extends to the delightful world of children's literature, where she has captivated young readers with her children's books, Wacky Winter Birds (2021) and Fun at Stewart Park (2023). Poetry serves as another vital form of her artistic expression, gracing the pages of esteemed literary magazines. Her poetic work has garnered critical acclaim, including a Highly Commended award for Icarus in 1996 and a top twenty shortlisting of her poem Cricket at Seaforth for the 2009 Cricket Poetry Prize.
