The instrument may have broader applications, and lead to an increased awareness of an underappreciated problem in postsecondary education. The pilot study also verifies the existence of the problem.

Jack Trammell teaches at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, USA. He is a scholar of disability and history, and teaches about the disability rights movement. His research has appeared in many magazines, journals, and newspapers. He completed his doctoral research at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, USA.
