The Ivorian government's commitment to making schooling compulsory for all children aged 6 to 16, and to creating conditions conducive to this education, was aimed at significantly improving school enrolment indicators and resolving educational problems. To achieve this, measures to encourage school enrolment were implemented through the free distribution of school kits, the construction of schools, the recruitment and training of teachers, and so on. Despite all these efforts, the supply of schooling is insufficient to meet the ever-increasing demand. The aim of this book is to analyze the problem of schooling in the sub-prefecture of Botro, in central Côte d'Ivoire. The results are based on a synthesis of documentary data, interviews with players in the education system and with parents.
