John Miorandi, a native Kansan, has lived in diverse locations including the Florida Keys, Montana, and Italy. His varied career includes roles as a fly-fishing guide and casting instructor, hunting guide, and trainer of hunting dogs. A Vietnam era veteran, he played minor league baseball for one year before serving in the military, and he is possibly the last player to have caught for the legendary Satchel Paige. At the time Paige was 59 and the author was 18. Miorandi has enjoyed fly fishing and bird hunting across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas, experiences that have enriched the fictional world of his book, The Question.
