Produktbeschreibung
When young artist Aleyamma inherits her late grandfather's bungalow in Puthuloor, she hopes to find peace and a new beginning. Instead, she finds herself drawn into the shadows of the manor's violent past. Perched on a hill amid Kerala's lush rubber plantations, the house--once a remnant of British rule--bears the weight of secrets, rebellion, and bloodshed. Decades earlier, Aleyamma's grandfather, Eesho, arrived at the same bungalow as a plantation supervisor, full of promise and love for his new wife. But as tensions rise among the estate workers and the radical-left Naxalite movement begins to stir, unrest threatens to destroy everything he holds dear. Now, haunted by grief and estranged from her Syrian Christian family, Aleyamma must confront the echoes of that turbulent past. As she unravels the stories buried within the walls of the old bungalow, she begins to understand her family's legacy--and the resilience that runs through generations. Set against the evocative backdrop of Kerala's plantations, The Remnants of Rebellion is Ponnu Elizabeth Mathew's enthralling debut novel--an exploration of memory, loss, and the enduring struggle between love and history.
