What do you do when your hero falls? When headlines collide with your history? When the man who shaped your faith becomes the center of scandal? The Robert Morris That I Know is not a defense. It is a testimony. A reckoning. A plea for maturity in a Church that preaches forgiveness but struggles to practice it. Dr. Gregory A. Thomas-former Executive Senior Pastor of Gateway Church-served alongside Robert Morris for nearly two decades. From the humble beginnings of Gateway's founding to its rise as one of America's most influential churches, Thomas had a front-row seat to the life, leadership, and legacy of a man now under fire. This deeply personal book weaves together firsthand experience, theological reflection, and a prophetic call to the Body of Christ. With clarity and compassion, Dr. Thomas challenges cancel culture in the Church and asks hard questions: Can we hold someone accountable without discarding their legacy? What does true redemption look like when the spotlight fades? And how do we rebuild trust when the platform has cracked? From prison walls, Dr. Thomas writes with boldness, conviction, and grace-still leading worship, still preaching hope, still believing in restoration. This is not just the story of Robert Morris. It's a challenge to the Church to become what it preaches. This is the Robert Morris that he knows. The question is: What will you do with that truth?
Autorenporträt
Dr. Gregory A. Thomas is a pastor, worship leader, economist, author, and former Executive Senior Pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. Over the course of his ministry and public service, he has preached to thousands, led worship in megachurches and prison chapels alike, and served his community as a two-term City Councilman and the first African American Mayor of Heath, Texas. Dr. Thomas is a passionate advocate for redemption, reconciliation, and spiritual integrity. Even while incarcerated, he continues to lead worship, mentor others, and write life-changing material-proving that your purpose does not end because of your current position. From city hall to the cell block, his calling has remained constant. The Robert Morris That I Know is his most personal and courageous book to date-a bold testament to loyalty, legacy, and the scandalous grace of God that doesn't flinch in the face of failure. Dr. Thomas is the author of numerous works including The Mayor, Investing for Beginners, and The Applause Trap. He is also the CEO of multiple companies and founder of ministries and initiatives aimed at restoring dignity and opportunity to those the system often overlooks. His life is a living sermon: no matter where you are, God's not done with you yet.
