The research was carried out from the perspective of analysing distance education as an instrument for democratising educational opportunities, in order to meet the expectations and needs of the individual, based on the thematic content on the role of distance education via the Internet in the training of citizens. The results show the importance of the use of ICT and the democratisation of higher education. They have brought benefits to distance education, allowing greater access and participation in the search for and fulfilment of professional training.
