Edward Lear was an English artist, illustrator, musician, author, and poet, most well-known for his nonsense poetry and limericks. The Owl and the Pussycat is his most well-known children's poem. Charles Santore was a nationally acclaimed illustrator whose works appear regularly in magazines. His honors included the Library of Congress's 2009 National Book Festival Artist, the Society of Illustrators' Award of Excellence, and the Hamilton King Award. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Free Library of Philadelphia, and in many private collections. A native of Philadelphia, he passed away in 2019. Nicholas Santore--painter, musician, and son of Charles Santore--was born and raised in Center City, Philadelphia. As a kid, he became interested in art and studied drawing and painting with his father, and eventually received his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in painting and illustration, and his MFA from Yale University School of Art in painting. Nicholas’s work has been shown in galleries and museums nationally and is part of several notable private collections.
