Helen Cross, 1967 geboren und aufgewachsen in dem Dorf Newbald/East Yorkshire, besuchte das Goldsmith College an der University of London und die University of East Anglia. Als Writer in Residence an der Universität Mumbai hielt sie sich eine Zeit lang in Indien auf. Heute lebt sie mit ihrem Partner und ihren beiden Töchtern in Birmingham.
