This paper aims to analyze the selfies uploaded to Instagram within the tradition of portraiture and self-portraiture, from its origins to the present day. We create and share these selfies constantly through our social networks, but reflecting on them will allow us to understand the way in which we communicate, identify or project ourselves today. Reviewing the relationship between this practice and tradition will allow us to better understand our society through the social, cultural and historical dimensions of the portrait genre in our contemporary selfies.

Mein Name ist Adrián Ramos Rodríguez und ich habe einen Abschluss in Kunstgeschichte von der Universität León, wo ich auch einen Master in Pädagogik gemacht habe. An der UOC habe ich den Masterstudiengang Zeitgenössische Kultur studiert. Ich habe als Ausstellungskoordinatorin im MUSAC und MAC in Belfast gearbeitet, und in meiner Freizeit schreibe ich Projekte oder Arbeiten wie diese.
