"In this collection, Watters weaves together tranquility, sweetness, nostalgia (just a little), patience, humility, and a deep appreciation for nature. Elements of the quotidian and physical world (storms, clouds, garden implements, worms, birds) are spoken with affection and care, as if they're his friendly neighbors. Reading these poems helps me slow down, take a deep breath, let it out slowly-and listen. All of a sudden, I can hear the bird calls I'd been tuning out before." Roger Watters started writing shortly after returning from Vietnam. Poetry was the form that he was comfortable with. From the Avenues of the Mind was his first book. He continued to write over the years and as a result, Toothpick Forest, Stationary Witness, Who Stayed and Voice of My Pen, all books of poetry were released. The author was also asked to do a book on the formation and history of the Diamond Sportsmen's Club, of which he was a member until recently. As a result, Diamond Faces - The Story of Diamond Sportsmen's Club became a reality and is available through the club in South Colton, NY.A Picture of Life was recently published of short stories that have waited years to be released. When a thought became larger than a poem, the thoughts were placed into a folder until there were enough.Simple Thoughts is a book of poetry as a result of the author's continual bond with nature and life. Thanks to everyone who has been an influence, whether you realized it or not.
