Autorenporträt
Metro Detroit native Alexis Cameron Stark is a passionate poet and journalist based in Grand Rapids. She is the author of the chapbook "Learning to Sleep in the Middle of the Bed" and by day, an education reporter for School News Network, a non-profit initiative of Kent Intermediate School District that serves as a window into classrooms, spotlighting resilient and innovative teachers and students. From her green years of scribbling streams of childhood consciousness in notebooks, to her green and white years of interning with the Center for Poetry at Michigan State University, Stark used words to navigate her journeys and tell her stories. During her college years, she created and facilitated arts and poetry workshops for incarcerated men at prisons in Michigan, exploring the potential of arts to create positive social change and promote individuality within the prison system. Post-grad, she traveled progressively west across route I-96, to find home in Grand Rapids, just a short drive from Lake Michigan. Writing continues to be her safe haven, alongside her family, Disney movies, and her very comfortable bed.
