Ergens op een warme Friese ochtend in augustus, 47 jaar geleden, werd een jongen geborendie later door het leven zou gaan als een wandelende paradox: nuchter én dromerig,rechtvaardig én creatief, en geboren in Friesland maar getogen in Drenthe. Al vroeg viel hijop doordat hij met een potlood in de ene hand en schrijfblok in de andere rondliep, klaar omde wereld te veroveren als journalist of tekenaar. Helaas gooide een onvermoede vijand roetin het eten: de harde werkelijkheid van een meer zekere toekomst.En zo, terwijl hij droomde van grootse verhalen, koos hij voor de studie rechten. Niet omdathij de wetboeken zo spannend vond, maar omdat zijn allergie voor onrecht zo hevig was. Dejonge idealist bloeide op en vond zijn roeping als advocaat.
