The road home isn't always on the planet where you live. Nineteen-year-old prodigy Emily Grayson never expected her invention to become the world's greatest threat. When gunfire erupts outside her lab and armed forces close in, she remembers the secret note slipped to her by a senior scientist: "The device you built is a Time-Gate. Every nation on Earth will fight to claim it. Use it. Go home." As the walls crumble and danger grows closer, Emily faces an impossible choice: stay and be captured by unknown assailants or activate the machine she barely understands. With a single desperate move, she triggers the Time-Gate and vanishes in a burst of blinding light. Now flung into the unknown, Emily must uncover the true power of her creation and the destiny it pulls her toward.
Mark Brumbaugh, a retired geophysicist turned avid astrophotographer, calls Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania home, where he lives with his wife and spends as much daylight as possible with his three energetic grandchildren. His storytelling journey began in his late twenties, purely for fun, but these days, he crafts tales for his grandchildren-and even helps them spin their own.Mark has a knack for words (perhaps too many of them). His wife is quick to quip, "Why say it in ten words when you can say it to a hundred?" Naturally, this talent-or habit-led him to tackle a full-length novel. The result? Over 150,000 words in no time. Now, Mark is on a mission to master the art of saying more with less-a challenge he's embraced with equal parts determination and humor. His first book is the product of this journey, and he hopes readers enjoy it as much as he enjoyed creating it.
