The Tree is a powerful tale of sacrifice, suffering, and the resilience of the human spirit. At its heart is a magical tree with a soul-an ancient, compassionate being that listens to those who are broken by the world. Blending emotional depth and psychological themes with mystical realism, R.D.K. Marjoram's debut novel follows the lives of those who come to The Tree in search of solace. From bullied children and trauma survivors; the rejected and the lonely; the envied and the stalked; the lost, the frightened and the grieving - each person shares their pain beneath its branches. And in return, The Tree gives pieces of itself-silver limbs that heal and protect-but each story it absorbs leaves a deep and painful wound. As The Tree becomes tainted by the cruelty it witnesses, it spirals toward hopelessness and despair, until an act of violence, vengeance and redemption reawakens its purpose... This unforgettable and hauntingly beautiful tale of transformation blends magic and emotional truth to explore what it really means to heal, and what it costs to care. It is a story about the cost of compassion, the darkness we carry, and the hope that can grow from even the most shattered soul. In listening, it gave. In giving, it broke. In breaking, it became. The Tree is a story of sorrow, sacrifice-and the roots of hope, healing and transformation. But sometimes, for life to flourish...something first must die! Perfect for fans of The Midnight Library, The Book Thief, and The Alchemist
