Autorenporträt
Durio has always had a love for dogs. Before he owned his very first American Pit Bull Terrier, Asia, he owned several so-called cross breeds that his parents would adopt for him at the local dog shelter. He was always willing to take in a stray dog and would often bring home strays that he found on the street. His parents would get tired of him sneaking dogs in their basement, but they put up with it because they knew he had a love for dogs, and it made him happy to give a stray dog a home. He acquired his first American Pit Bull Terrier at the age of seventeen and fell in love with the breed. He learned all he could about the breed and had some great mentors that shared their knowledge with him. He started breeding them in his twenties and did so for many years. The lean and muscular look that these dogs displayed was eye-catching to him. He would breed them for many years until he met a guy named Nick who had an American Pit Bull Terrier that looked quite different. Nick's dogs were a lot thicker than Durio had been used to. They had muscle mass and very thick legs. He never knew the breed could look like that and once again he was hooked. He bred this new style of American Pit Bull Terrier for several years, as his knowledge grew he met more people who liked this thicker style of dog. Fast forward to the early 1990s with his discovery of the American Bully by way of the internet. He witnessed firsthand the introduction of this new breed and was involved with breeding them; he belonged to a group that put on American Bully dog shows as well. His website was doing quite well. He shipped dogs all over the country and produced top quality American Bullies for many years. Despite this, he wanted to push the envelope further. He was always a fan of English Bulldogs because of the way they looked: short and stocky was the way he described them. He began crossbreeding English Bulldogs with American Bullies and loved the results he was getting. This practice brought him praise and ridicule from other breeders, but he did not let the naysayers stop him. A new breed appeared on the scene, and it was comprised of the exact same type of dogs that Durio was breeding. However, this breed went under a different name: Exotic American Bullies. Durio had the inside scoop on the first breeders that were promoting and pushing this new breed. He knew the stud dog they had used to bring this new breed into creation, although the breeders themselves did not disclose who this dog was. The same dog that these breeders used to start this new breed was the same dog that Durio had his eye on! >
