Henry James death on February 28, 1916, marked the end of his life as an American-British author. Many people think he is one of the best writers ever written in English and see him as a key figure in the transition between literary realism and literary modernism. He had a brother named William James, who was a philosopher and psychologist, and a sister named Alice James, who wrote a diary. He is best known for books like The Portrait of a Lady that show how American immigrants, English immigrants, and people from mainland Europe interact with each other in their personal lives and relationships. He tried new things with his later works. James frequently wrote about his characters' thoughts and feelings as well as their relationships with others in a way that layered or juxtaposed reasons and impressions that were not clear or logical. People have said that his late works are like impressionist paintings because of the way they are put together and how they create a unique sense of uncertainty.
